My “open forms” are a collection of wood sculptures that use lyrical line work and mobius planes to create a feeling of suspended motion. This way of working is the foundation of my practice. It’s mostly an improvisational approach to working with the organic forms provided in the characteristics of the wood. There is an intuitive call and response that plays out in the work until a resolution is achieved.
These images are a portion of my work done in this style.

My “solid forms” are abstract sculptures that use the inherent texture and mass of the material to create meaning. There is still a strong sense of line but I am not piercing the forms. This alters my practice to be much more sensitive to the surface I am creating through the process of direct carving.

Passage is a sculpture meant to be installed in outdoor settings. It is inspired by open ocean wayfinding and early voyaging cultures who used keen observation to create systems of navigation that relied upon a deep connection to the natural world. That intimacy to nature, mystery and beauty of adventure was a feeling I wanted to capture in the work. A basalt plinth is carved and polished for the base. 84” tall x 24” wide x 16” deep. Available
